Welcome.

The Prince George County Regional Heritage Center opened its doors on November 8, 2008. "It was a great celebration," said Carol Bowman, Executive Director, "over three hundred people from around the area joined us that weekend. We were very pleased that, after four years of planning, raising funds, and countless volunteer hours of hard work, it all came together so well. The Museum is something for which every citizen in the County can be very proud ."

In its mission to tell the story of Prince George County, the Center has become a home for many treasures from a rich and vast regional history. Its newly opened Cultural Heritage Building includes a Czech-Slovak Heritage Gallery that celebrates the life of the Slavic communities that became an integral part of this area after the Civil War. The new wing also exhibits other facets of the immigration story, including that of John Mazza, son of Italian immigrants who went on to become a military officer in the United States Army and a music teacher at the Prince George High School. Mazza led his students to many awards and a trip to all of the major Bowl games and parade, including five trips to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and two to the Rose Bowl in California. The new building includes many historic/genealogy records and now welcomes inquiries and appointments for research.

We encourage both individual and group visitors. If you would like to make a special request, please use the contact information to send an inquiry.
